Cambodia - Youth Entrenet

The importance of entrepreneurship education is being increasingly acknowledged by education and training institutions in Cambodia. Some of them, like the Royal University of Law and Economics in Phnom Penh, have been showing interest in KAB. At this university for example, an awareness raising workshop was carried out for it Economics Department in 2005, and after a few of its professors were trained, a pilot test was launched for 3 classes during 3 semesters reaching thus 100 undergraduate students.

In 2007, the Cambodian government decided to plan and implement, with the support of the ILO, a pilot project in four tracks: in 39 Provincial Technical Training Centres (PTCs), in 44 Universities, in the Cambodia India Entrepreneurship Development Centre (CIEDC), and in organizations targeting diploma holders. Although the implementation phase of this project has not yet started, due to financial issues and staff turnover, discussions among the government, the ILO and national partners are ongoing in order to adapt the material to the country’s needs.
