Tunisia - Youth Entrenet

The government of Tunisia in the beginning of 2008 created an inititative stipulating that vocational education should develop an enterprise culture and a spirit of initiative and creativity among youth whereby KAB was then officially presented to the Ministry of Education and Training as a tool to provide these objectives.  Pilot tests were promptly conducted in vocational training and secondary education institutions. An information and planning workshop was held in July of 2008, gathering inspectors from secondary schools and curriculum developers for vocational training, and staff from government offices and national and professional trainning centers. Their acceptance of KAB led to 25 instructors from training centres and 25 teachers from secondary schools to be trained, and allowed to pilot test KAB in the  2008-2009 school year. Currently, an estimated 876 secondary school students and 576 vocational training trainees are participating in this exercise.

As for higher education, in January of 2009, another training workshop was held for Facilitators, Trainers and Promoters from 20 universities where the KABs package on distance-learning programme has been introduced on a pilot basis for two semesters, with about 745 students currently enrolled. KAB materials are currently being nationally adapted by a working group in charge of collecting feedback from the Facilitators and introducing modifications as needed. 71 Facilitators, Trainers and Promoters have been trained in KAB so far, as well as about 2,195 students from 70 education and training institutions.
