The Nigerian government first expressed its willingness to introduce KAB when it conducted a trainning workshop in Abuja, with the support of the ILO in 2006. 44 Facilitators, Trainers and Promoters of entrepreneurship education from around the country, institutional administratiors including principals, government officals and professionals working with curriculum development were in attendance. The workshop was fruitful and beared a three-year proposal to implement a variety of  KAB activities in higher education was developed, a required curricula was adopted for implementation in higher education and an action plan outlining implementation steps was created.

The country’s interest in KAB has continually grown in the preceeding years both in educational and public institutions. In 2007 eight Nigerian-based Facilitators, Trainers and Promoters were trained at the International Training Centre (ITC) in Italy including government and public institutions officials, as well as staff of vocational training institutions. In 2008, two members of the National Commission for Colleges of Education also participated in the training workshop at the ITC, along with a Nigerian-based participant from Life Impact Foundation, an NGO, in 2009.
