Mozambique - Youth Entrenet

The KAB programme was recently introduced in the educational institutions in Mozambique, thanks to the coordinated efforts of both its Ministry of Education and Culture and the ILO WOOP (Working out of poverty) project. The first workshop was held in english and catered to 12 Facilitators, Trainers and Promoters who were trained in Maputo of December 2007. The second workshop, conducted in Portuguese, was held in May 2008 for 14 trainees. Attendance was gatheried from government institutions (Ministry of Labour, National Institute of Vocational training - INEFP, Provincial Office of Education and Culture of Nampula), secondary schools, technical schools,  various business and training institutes and organizations, and even a private secondary school for people with disabilities (ADEMO) for an expansive roll out of the KAB programme. Since then, it has been decided that KAB implementation in the country would primarily be targeted at private educational institutions.

Consequently, 3 private universities and 1 private secondary school pilot tested an entrepreneurship course, based on KAB, with their students in 2008 and 2009. After positive feedback, a couple schools have decided to incorporate the KAB-based entrepreneurship course as part of their curriculum for the upcoming school terms. It is estimated that since 2007- 26 Facilitators, Trainers and Promoters have been trained and over 375 youngsters have been reached.
